LAFC (5W-2D-2L) settled for a point after a 0-0 draw against the Colorado Rapids on April 23 at BMO Stadium.
The Black and Gold struggled to find their offensive rhythm early, only recording a shot on target the entire first half.
Throughout the match, LAFC’s squad appeared to be fatigued after playing three games in the past two weeks, with a fourth match scheduled for this Saturday.
This season, LAFC has experienced the highest game density in club history, with 13 games scheduled over a 42-day span.
“The frustrating part is not being able to train,” LAFC Head Coach Marc Dos Santos said. “There's always one group recovering and a smaller group training. That part to balance, it's the most difficult part right now for us.”
LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris kept LAFC in the match after making a series of crucial saves in the first half and recording his seventh clean sheet in MLS competition this season.
The French goalkeeper currently leads MLS in total clean sheets.
LA’s offensive unit started to bloom after halftime, with the closest opportunity coming from a shot by LAFC midfielder Mathieu Choinière that bounced off the crossbar and post in the 56th minute.
Another prime chance for LAFC came in the 66th minute when forward Jacob Shaffelburg had two shots, with the first going wide and the second saved by Colorado’s goalkeeper.
The Canadian winger made a significant impact in LAFC’s effort to leave with three points during his first-ever start with the club.
LAFC’s star duo of Denis Bouanga and Son Heung-min struggled to get involved in the match, resulting in the club’s inability to maintain possession up front and create chances in dangerous areas.
“There are some star players in the league that were very good last year, and now they have a difficult beginning of the season,” Dos Santos said. “It's happening also in some pockets with Sunny and Denise, especially lately. We're trying to find a form of having them closer to each other.”
LA finished the match with only 28 percent of possession and one shot on target. The defensive unit limited Colorado’s attack to only two shots on target and maintained a clean sheet.
“We're happy to not give up goals,” LAFC defender Eddie Segura said. “At the same time, there's a little bit of a sour taste in our mouths, not being able to get the win, especially here at home.”
Since opening the 2026 season with the best start in club history with an 8-0-2 record in all competitions, LAFC have not earned three points in their last four matches.
“Offensively, we have to find a way that we are confident and comfortable again to play out of pressure,” Dos Santos said. “We did it the first month [of the season], and now we got a little bit out of track.”
LAFC travels to Allianz Field to face Minnesota United on April 25 at 3:45 p.m. CST.
